I can't speak to your specific application, but I like the Eotech on an M4gery.

Have used Eotech, Propoint, Aimpoint, Serendipity, and FastFire II on various firearms but not an FAL.

Like the Serendipity rail sight or Eotech on race pistols, the Eotech on rifles other than DRs, and the FastFire II on DRs.

I have an Aimpoint on mine and love it. Simple 4moa red dot does the trick. The rifle is rigged out for shooting hogs from a helo and to date a 100 hogs agree, if they were still alive, that it works.

Ive got 3 aimpoints and a couple trigicons and love them. Had a eotec and sold it shortly after buying it. Aimpoints are what the others are judged by.

Perry,

What rifle are you using for hogs from helo??

Lloyd, Ive heard from alot of friends now that the aimpoint is much more durable than the eotech.

Much more is an understatement. I onced watched a show on one of the shooting channels where two reps from aimpoint took a comp 3 and a aimpoint micro and mounted them on ars. They sighted them in and then took them off there guns (quick detact mounts) they then stood about 10 yards apart on a concreat parking lot and skipped them back and forth to each other accross the concreat repeatably and mounted them back on the guns and they worked fine and even held zero perfectly. Try that with an eotec and you will have a box of parts. What i really like about the aimpoints over the eotech is battery life. The comp 3s and 4s have battey life thats over 5 years when left on. You never have to grab a gun in the middle of the night and fumble for a swithch or worry you left it on and find the batterys dead. My comp 2s will last about 1.5 years left on. What i do is just replace the batterys on newyears when the smoke detectors get changed. Acogs are another top shelf sight. Nice thing is they NEVER need batterys and are on all the time. Downside is there about twice as expensive as a aimpoint. An eotech is a fine sight for a plinking gun but i wouldnt have one on a serious home defense or battle rifle.

Lloyd,

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

We have used lots of red dot sights including the Aimpoint Comp series ... and with that experience chose to send out youngest son into Afghanistan with an EoTech for his M4 flat top. (Yes he was not part of a typical unit.) Went loaded with Lithium AAs and an adjustable quick release rear sight so that the rifle could be set up for sight co-incidence.

Did fine. Battery supply was not a problem during that tour and a later one to Iraq. Battery life of 600 to 1200 hours seems sufficient.

My kid may not be typical as he is left master-eyed and right handed. The EoTech did just fine.

(P.S. He has a wide-bodied 38 Super racegun fitted with an Aimpoint Comp, so he is very familiar with them.)

I use EoTechs on race pistols, a subgun, an M4gery, and a bow. They too work for me.

From the helo we shoot a 16" FN FAL with a 4moa dot Aimpoint and a brass catcher. On the ground it is a suppressed 12.5" AR using Brown Tip/Optimized 70gr TSX.

Perry,

Do you use FMJ or soft points in your FAL for hog hunting?

150gr Federal soft points. We tried the 147 ball and 175gr M118LR ammo and they were both pathetic, hogs taking 3-4 hits in the vitals and chugging along no worse for the wear. I bought 400rds of the Federal stuff 4-5 years ago when ammo was still priced the way it ought to be and I think I still have 200 or so rounds left. The 165gr TSX is by far the deadliest of the stuff we have used. A lot of folks who have never put bullets into real flesh believe all the internet hype about how M855, Mk262, M118LR, TAP, etc is the cat's pajamas but that just isn't real world. The cheap 150gr Fed beats all super deadly "tac" stuff...hands down. On the ground the 70gr TSX out shines all the other 5.56 stuff, it even out shines the 62gr TSX.
