I am thinking of selling my unfired NIB Colt AR 15 model SP1 to a fellow gun club member. Can anyone suggest a realistic value? Thanks.

look at gunbroker, and at COMPLETED auctions, not the zero bid ones.

Idaho likely missed a good sale, as top of the chart is going to be 1400-1200, and a 90% gun is not worth even close to a nib one

The only additional value an SP1 has is the ability to convert it to full auto.

SP1: $1000.00
Parts kit: $99.00

30 yrs in Leavenworth: Priceless

Thanks for the lead on GunBroker's completed sales. I tried to search for unfired, NIB, not too many and real variation in prices. If I discard the lowest and the highest, I can get a realistic value (I think).

My SP came with all M-16 parts, just lacking the hole drilled. Two LE friends suggested, very strongly, that I replace those six parts and store the originals separately.

With the current regime, you are guilty until proven innocent.

Many of the early ARs came with M16 parts. Some of them could be made to fire more than one shot with some "adjustment", usually very unreliably. It's no longer legal to have M16 parts in a semi lower.

However, saying that an SP1+M16 parts=full auto is irresponsible in my opinion. Unless that parts kit comes with a drill press, it does not convert an AR to full auto. Any AR can be converted with enough work, but a parts kit alone ain't gonna do it.
