What is the difference between a standard 3rd generation frame and a 3rd generation black powder frame? Any collector value over standard frame? Still shoot modern 45LC ammo or must you use the light cowboy loads only? Thanks "Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you; Jesus Christ and the American Soldier. In 3rd gen guns the only difference is asthetics. BP frame has screw going into the front of the frame to hold the base pin in and on the smokeless frame, it is a spring loaded cross pin. There is absolutely no strength difference between the two when talking 3rd gen guns. I personally like the looks of the BP frame, but I like the ease of use of the smokeless frame. If you ever anticipate removing the cylinder on a BP framed gun, make sure you have a proper fitting screwdriver with you. As for value, I think there were probably less BP frames made, but don't see them selling for any more than standard frames.

Thanks for the explanation. I have seen the difference but didn't know the details. "Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you; Jesus Christ and the American Soldier. One died for your sins, the other for your freedom...."

BP has the original "Bullseye" ejector button, VS "Crescent" for the smokeless. Rich
