Since this seems to have invaded most of the other sites, but was 1st posted here, then here is where I will respond. Stories about anvils? Christ , give me a break. I have several anvils in my metal shop. I use them but don't shoot them. O.K. you wanted a story about anvil (misuse) here's one. We used to (usually under the influence of beer) do the anvil lift. Basically it was using one hand picking up the anvil straight-armed by the horn then over head bringing it down gently to kiss it then return it to the table. For the uninitiated it would be wise to start with a sledge hammer. Many years ago before I went into business for my self I worked with an elderly man that was a welder but had started the trade as a blacksmiths apprentice in the early 20s. He said that in those days, orphanages just gave kids away to businesses. When he was a tot + apprenticed to a local smith one of the 1st things he learned was that if you missed the metal + hit the ion by mistake was that the smith set you down on on the table + hit your knee with the hammer. It was not long before you never missed.

------------------------------ A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"
