A group of about 5 of us went up to Zimbabwe to go for a hunt. We were all bowhunters and hunted with a variety of equipment, myself with a 69pound recurve bow. during the least productive parts of the day we would turn our focus onto smaller game such as squirrels, birds, and even rats. At night there were also a few of us that got a few rats that were running around the very basic camp as well as a snake or two.

has anyone else shot small animals of the same sort or that are similar? Its is a lot of fun especially because the animals are so quick.

PS don't worry in Zim anything shot was eaten, our tracker had a great liking for rat. and you know what they say about snakes. "a snake is a steak!"

Yes, in Argentina (Las Pampas)we shot up some longhaired rat/gerbil like animals for the pot..spotlighted them. Loads of fun! And good eating, too.

I took a small spotted genet while hunting in Zimbabwe. He makes a very attractive mounted addition to my trophy room.

In the CAR I shot francolin and guinea fowl. In fact it was clear poaching as I shot from the truck.....but it was for the pot.

A couple of weeks ago three of us went out gopher hunting with traditional bows. Total score was around 112 of the little buggers. We had lots of fun and it was great practise. hopefully I'll be out there this weekend again.

Arrowed 3 Raccoons by the camp fire late at night, using only the fire for light. Had a blast. Two were head on shots. Guinea is also a blast.

Funny you should ask... I usually get so freakin' trigger happy and blood thirsty when I can't get away from the house, I HAVE NO CHOICE but to do something about it. The cats around here are always tempting me, but other small game takes the brunt.
