Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

Saskatchewan, Canada

Ducks, geese and yes, Crane's!

Ontario, Canada

Nebraska

One of the most sought after trophy birds; a "blue phase" Ross goose. I took mine years ago in Texas. TX G&F Biologist said he'd only seen one other in his entire career. They are becoming more common yet still a rare bird. Most hunters will never take one but I do see several taken each year, especially in the Central and Mississippi flyway.

The center bird is the hybrid. Pure Ross geese lack the black "grinning patch" on their mandibles (Lamellae), whereas Snows & Blues will. However, some hybrids will have black
lamellae (the comb like strainers on the lower bill). Many times a hunter will mistake a small Blue Goose for a hybrid, but there are a few signs to look for to be a true hybrid.

He hasn't said yet where this years plans are. Depends on where the birds are congregated and if small waters are frozen yet. It's a wait and see until Fall starts.
Word today; no, lake Ontario is too far to hunt every day.
