Saeed, what is your favorite copper alloy for bullet stock?
It must be so satisfying to CNC-turn your own bullets.

Bill,

We do not use any alloys as such.

But 99.99% copper rods we buy from construction supplies.

They are apparently sold for electric earthing.

A friend sent me some specialized alloys from the US supposed good for bullets.

We have not used them, for one because they are in inch sizes and all our machine collets are metric.

Saeed: I believe most collets will go 1 mm down. So 26mm collet could works with 25.4 dia rod. But I don't know your collets.

BTW best alloy could be "Gilding metal", such as 95 % Cu and 5 % Zn.

The thing we have to look at what is readily available to us.

That way we can have a design with a consistent raw material available whenever we want it.

We normally buy our rods in lots of 500 meters - it is the break off point to get a good discount Big Grin

Saeed, there is no arguing with the results you are getting from your pure copper bullets!

If you put copper cleaner in the bands, are they self cleaning bullets?
