Does anyone have any field reports on Woodleighs new Hydro-Solid bullets?

I can give a visual report on 'em.

They're the fugliest bullet I've ever seen in my life! rotflmo

That said, if they have the Woodleigh name on them, I'd expect them to be the dogs bollocks. tu2

FWIW, I've got a buddy on his way up to Arnhemland in OZ who is planning to try some on water buffalo and I'm looking forward to hearing they work better than they look. Wink

www.nitroexpress.com has a report on this bullet and it results.
The do work impressively but I cant get the 450grners to feed in my 458Win. However I know of someone that has had great results with them from his 404J and 9.3x62.

I think they're the coolest looking bullet I've seen, but, then again, I've never been one to follow the crowd.

I've gotta say they look interesting and I'm itching to hear a few reports but to me they look like a model of something you'd use to unplug the toilet! rotflmo

Like I say though, I've no doubt they'll be good if they're made by Woodleigh. Smiler

Sure, they will be ! But the question is , if we need all this new bullets ? I shot a lot of buffalos with SP bullets from Hornady and elefants with classic FMJ bullets from Hornady or Woodleigh ! I think a lot of people do that too since many years !

Why not go in to the field with a better bullet? I have tested these bullets in test media and they performed very very well. I am not saying you cannot kill an elephant with the old style bullet, but with the cost and limited time involved why not prepare with the best possible equipment. I am sure the same thing was said 110 years ago when those new fangled Nitro rounds came out, we had been killing elephants with bore rifles for years.

We don't actually drink Fosters, we send it all overseas. Thank the lord for that Wink

Cheers,
Mark.

P.S. I have some of these bullets in 338 (225gr)and 458 (450 gr). Haven't used the 458's yet but have sighted some of the 338's in at the range.

Well,

I have been givrn soem for testing by Woodleigh,

And the result in the end, they work, so good I have not recovered one, used them a lot last year on Hippo, in 338,416,and 450 Rigby,

So far none recovered, nice round bleeder entrance holes, and exit holes, but I honestly do not see the differences in performance with Hornday DGS, or Barnes Banded solids,

So I stick too my Hornadys and everything else they give a way for free
