Argentina moves to Chinese Yuan
Argentina is making some interesting economic moves lately. Various news outlets are reporting that it's replacing the dollar with the Chinese yuan to make international debt payments, as well as joining China and Iran in some brick and mortar development initiatives. China will also be putting up about 9 billion of a 12 billion dollar nuclear power plant in Buenos Aires province.
Argentine hunting outfits, especially the wingshooting companies, have historically traded in the dollar, preferably cash. Wonder what this means to the American client going forward, if the dollar is valued against the yuan?

Plus the present US government has raised interest rates very rapidly crushing many other economies. We have used hegemony via the USD as reserve currency to bludgeon other economies and now with the formation of BRICS the USD is in severe jeopardy.

DCS MemberDon’t go to the currency exchange for USD to yuan for hunting in Argentina. It is still a socialist government. Macri tried, but didn’t have legislative help.
It was 1:3 USD to peso my first time 17 years ago. However, that was their ratio to leaders per year shortly before. They have quit printing bills in small denominations. However, you can go quite far with Benjamins.
As a hunter, USD rules there. Wire the upfront costs. Most of our clients don’t need pesos, unless they spend time in BsAs or other side trips.
Basically, go and have fun. Most outfitters keep you away from the silliness.
