LAN Cargo Bans Hunting Trophies

(posted March 04, 2016)

Hunters planning to transport trophies to or from Latin America should be aware that LAN Cargo has announced it will not take ANY hunting trophies. LAN informed its shipping clients by email last week, issuing this statement:

Due to our commitment to the protection of the environment and its animal species, we will no longer accept for transportation of dead animals exhibited as trophies of game hunting, even when the cargo complies with all IATA requirements. Special attention is being given to the following species: Lions, Leopards and other felines of similar size, Rhinos, Buffaloes, Elephants, Any other species that has been the victim of game hunting. If you have any questions please contact your Sales Representative or Inside Sales Agent.

Sincerely,

LAN CARGO S.A.

Anyone hunting Argentina or Chile, or South American hunters transporting trophies back home, should discuss the issue with their shipping agent and make appropriate plans.

Thanks to Maria Felix of Hunter International Brokerage Services for bringing this development to our attention. - Barbara Crown, Editor-in-Chief

What is the current status of trophies on AA? At least that's an option after clearing in BsAs. Too bad I just flew down on Lan today. Too bad the only other option to Córdoba is Aerolineas Argentinas, but they might be getting my business in the future.

I meant to be DSC Member...bad typing skills.
