Well, we've done it. My wife and I have booked a trip to Argentina this coming March. We'll spend one night in Buenos Aires (Tango show included) and then fly to Bariloche, Patagonia the following morning. After a night in Bariloche, we begin a four day float/fly fishing expedition down the Collon Curra river. After another overnight in Bariloche, we fly back to BA and then take a 1st class overnight bus trip to Santa Rosa, La Pampa province. We will then enjoy a 7 day free range red stag/blackbuck hunt during the roar at Estanchia Quinni Malal. My wife and I will also celebrate a wedding anniversary during the hunt. This hunt is a modified verson of one offered on the AR discounted hunt page. Should be great! "There are worse memorials to a life well-lived than a pair of elephant tusks." Robert Ruark

Sounds like a great trip. You might want to plan on a little more time in BA and Bariloche, they are both beautiful and there is a lot to see. Good luck on your hunt! I congratulate you on a wonderful decision. You will enjoy Buenos Aires but not nearly as much as Patagonia, and a tango show is a must. A few of our BA members might offer you a suggestion or two. You will also be quite pleasantly surprised with the bus....shame you would not have time to visit Juan Pozzi in San Francisco, or Guiilermo in Cordoba. You and your wife would enjoy them. San Carlos de Bariloche has to be one of my very favorite places. And my favorite parilla restaurant there is Boliche Alberto, the very best bife chorizo (NY steak). Do not miss taking the cable car to the top of Cerro Otto and enjoying lunch at the restaurant at the top and the museum. If you have a car, or someone would drive you, take a look at the resort at Llao Llao.... And if you want to bring a smile to your wife's face, take her to Tito Testone's shop. He is a world famous jeweler. I am planning to be there at about the same time and a small possibility we might even meet at Estanchia Quinni Malal. So much to see and enjoy.....you will have a marvelous time. If you e-mail me I will send you a few photos from my last trip........ "When you play, play hard; when you work, don't play at all." Most places I;ve visited in Mexico and throughout Africa have taken US dollars. Are US dollars accepoted in Argentina or should I convert to Argentina pesos? "There are worse memorials to a life well-lived than a pair of elephant tusks." Robert Ruark

ATM cards are the best..... beats hell out of Traveler's Checks, and sure beats converting currency and you get that days rate. I was never in any place in Argentina where I could not use mine. You will have to talk to your bank and raise the daily limit. Some start out rather low. And, I would advise your bank when you are leaving and when you will be back. Some banks charge a small fee, but I have found it very worthwhile. Credit cards work as well, but I am not sure if many outfitters accept them. It all depends on where you expect to waste your money ... but in major cities like BUE, almost every interesting shop accepts dollars (my only advice is that perhaps you should pay attention with the exchange rate they might apply ) Nevertheless I suggest you to carry some small amount of money in local currency... just to give you an idea of how much, try to have in pesos the amount of dollars you should expend in your everyday activities at your own place If I can help you somehow, just let me know ------------------------------------------ Μολὼν λάβε Duc, sequere, aut de via decede.

Martin...good advice and those pesos are best obtained at a local ATM. Now, for me....I am excited about my plans to visit with you and Ricardo in BA for a few days with Guillermo. And we can plan a good hunt.... hunting for a good parilla restaurant... hunting for good tango dancers.... hunting for an excellent Malbec.... and hunting to toast Juan with a cold Quilmes stout....maybe he will join us... I will have two weapons for this hunt...my best cuchillo and tenedor.... "When you play, play hard; when you work, don't play at all." Theodore Roosevelt

SBT, Enjoy your trip to Argentina. My wife & I are going to Argentina in early March as well. We're heading to Las Chanares for a 4 day dove hunt then to Peru to see Machu Picchu. Won't it be nice to be out of this cold weather just for a little while? Have a great time! JB

Thanks JB. I retired yesterday and now the countdown begins. If we enjoy Argentina as much as we think we will, dove and golden dorado are next. Have a great trip! "There are worse memorials to a life well-lived than a pair of elephant tusks." Robert Ruark
