How and what is el gringo viejo doing on his annual Argentina trip? His devotees breathlessly await the first report.

As far as I know he is hunting red stags near Santa Rosa, La Pampa Province. The place is named La Araña (the spider). Bill is partnered by Guillermo Amestoy.
In a few days he´ll return to Buenos Aires and after that he´ll visit with Juan in Córdoba.
Regards.

He said he would keep me posted, but probably having tooooo much fun. Guillermo posted me on Sunday that he was picking Bill up in a few hours and they were off for Red Stag. I am sure details will be forthcoming in the next day or so.

I know this...his timing is perfect. I am about an hour south of Santa Rosa right now and the stags are going nuts. This was our first morning and we heard at least 25. I shot a mgt 5x6 with a muzzleloader and then a really nice blackbuck with m-loader by mid-day. The roar is definitely strong...

In reply..I am using Guillermo´s computer. I just returned early this morning from La Pampa...I did not get one after five days of hunting. But it was was great. Very tough free range in difficult and thick terrain. Good news is that Guillermo´s son got a beautiful stag first morning. That made the trip. Will report more with a few photos once home.

A couple of days before Bill reached Buenos Aires. In the morning we had an excellent meeting with Afrikaander and in the night with Carlos Alberto Macías. As always, Bill is an entertainer of sorts. The best wishes for him in his wandering.

Heading home Wednesday, the 12th. Advice re: Argentina...do not spend all your time hunting. It is a magnificent country with so much to offer and to see. I am just back from Iguazu with Guillermo. Incredible. tu2

This year La Pampa, San Francisco, Buenos Aires...& Iguazu....

I did not get "my" stag but the hunt was great...free range and exciting hunting during the rut.

Next year it will be El Calafate and Ushuaia...and another stag hunt, if there is time. Whistling

Many thanks to Guillermo my most excellent guide to the wonders of Argentina. Smiler and of course to the other friends and family I have met along the way, such as Juan Pozzi with whom my whole Argentine adventure started.
