Never having traveled to Argentina I am at a loss as to where to begin looking for the type of hunt that interests me. I speak no Spanish nor do I know what part of the country I should be looking at for the hunt I am after.
I understand some great goose hunting is to be had an it interests me though not to the extent that puma an water buffalo do. Is it possible to combine all three on a 8-10 day hunt?

To answer your question directly, yes. But you must understand that as with all hunting there are no guarantees. Contact Juan Pozzi who posts here regularly. Geese, no problem, water buff probably no problem. Puma? There as here, tough.

I have been with Juan 4 times now and can only tell you that he is as good and aggressive a hunter as you will encounter anywhere.

I enjoyed my trips to Africa hunting but have begun to tire of feeling as though I'm a walking bank account for everyone from the airlines to the air freighters.
I have seen a TV show recently that gave me the impression my trophys from Argentina could be brought back with me as excess baggage Is this accurate?
I'd like to do the water buffalo hunt but have been warned not to expect them to be as agressive as the cape buffalo I've hunted. But heck anything that big can get plenty nasty if they so wish to.
Has anyone hunted them away from the game fenced ranches in the USA?

2thdoc: ask Mr. Carlos Coto about water buffs...some years ago he was charged by a wounded one from behind and in the thick bush. He mostly by instinct shot the beastie in the neck with a 458 Lott if I remember well, but the inmense dying animal got him. The following surgeries and other medical procedures involved almost a year before a full recovery was reached. Eeker

You are right Juan. I should have remembered Teddy. Always the accomplished gentleman, many years ago he allowed me to shoot his 8 gauge at the Tiro Federal de Núñez. ¡Good show!.

Juan I looked at your link and sent email. Want to hunt geese, piegon, and 1 or 2 water buffalo.
I'd like bring my 458WM and ammo if the paperwork is not too strict.

Juan,
Please send me some info, prices, dates, etc.
I would be interested in doing a combo hunt for Red Stag, Axis dees, and black buck in that order. For myself and my father. We could hunt togther or seperate. Can we hunt all species in 1 area? Are they all free range? Is there a better time to hunt Puma?
Thanks

How about the area around Bordenave?

Seems isolated from the few maps I looked at with a pretty healthy sting of mountains close by.

TCLouis,
I know Bordenave as I live only 60 km from Boredenave.
You are very close to one of the best hunting grounds of Argentina.
SouthWest from Bordenave, in La Pampa according to some experts you can find very big boars and also cougar and red deer on free range and cotos (most fenced).

This a map from Buby Campo´s book "Cazador de Chanchos" (Boar Hunter).
Bordenave is just NE from Villa Iris (on the map).

Martín: the Bordenave area was at a time a favorite for hunting blackbuck. I don´t know if this is true nowadays. Lodging was somewhat difficult, however. I remember four cantankerous fellows looking for a bed in the night (us) and ending in an hotel with red lights. No one called home then and there...

Martin. If my plans work out I will be in Argentina a month or more. And a good part of the time in the area of Bariloche where I plan to try to rent a car - if reasonable. Perhaps we will meet in one of my wanderings.

Red lights?? Does that mean stop? Roll Eyes
Or was it Christmas time? bewildered
I am just back from Reno, Nevada. The drive between Vegas and Reno has many red lights...but they were so far off the road I never stopped for one. I noticed they never turned green.... animal I asked about them and was told by a Mexican illegal that they were pinchuli stretchers, Carajo! and I never saw the ambulance. No way to treat an injured person. CRYBABY I was also told that all one could find in one of those out of the way places were old holycows and perhaps some crabs. Hmmm, pretty far from the sea for crabs troll but who knows....maybe next time I'll get an order to go.... homer
