I have a chance to go hunt red stag North of Bariloche April 18-22 of 2013. I have not hunted stags this late. Should they still be roaring this late?

Hello Blacktailer,

I live in Bariloche. I am sure the main roaring period has passed by mid April. May be, depending the area and the male/female ratio, a second estrous in the un-covered females is a possibility, triggering a short and light second roaring time.
The main roaring (or rutting) season is between March 10th to April 5th. And in my experience in this area (32 years living and hunting here), the best time is from March 20 to the end of March.

Good luck!

PH

Thanks PH, that was what I suspected. The only time I had hunted this property previously was the last week of March in 2006 and it was excellent. Think I'll see it I can book for end of March 2014.
