I'm looking for a first rate machine that will handle hollow ground and serrated blades. I've used a Lansky for years and it just takes too much time and doesn't work on the serrated blades. Any and all input would be appreciated.

Other than a belt sander in the hands of a professional or a bench grinder with a polishing wheel, I have never seen an electric sharpening tool I would use on a good blade. All most electric sharpeners are good for is ruining good knives. ******************************************************* For every action, there is an equal and opposite malfunction.

I have found the Spyder Co sharpener with its triangular ceramic sticks to work great on serrated edges. Use the grey sticks. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

Bought the Nirey. It used sanding belts. Does a much better job than the Lansky and does not overheat the blades or remove a lot of material if you use some care. It does bulid a small burr on some blades, but a quick swipe with a fine stone will rmove the burr.

My sharpener is the USPO. Buy Kershaw, mail it back when losing its edge, and get a like new blade back. "When you play, play hard; when you work, don't play at all." Theodore Roosevelt
