Hi,

looking for recipes fro cooking rabbit, goat etc., while in the field - basic, stuff, but tasty. Any style OK, such as stewing or frying, but where i hunt, there isn't much water, and I don't take a lot of equipment!! Quick, simple, and clean, is waht I'm after.

thanks.

I always take along a roll of foil, a jar of seasoned salt, and a small bottle of olive oil.
Sprinkle meat with seasoned salt.
Rub on olive oil.
Double wrap in foil.
Place packet on coals that have been scrapped away from main fire.
Let cook for several hours, replacing coals as needed.
You want very low heat. The packet should barely sizzle. I've done this with tough old squirrels and the meat fell off the bone. It should work with anything, and it is very tasty. No pans to clean up either.
If I have tender meat, I like to skewer it on a stick and cook it over the fire with the same oil/salt coating. Then I put it in a flour tortilla or pita bread and chow down.
I'm very lazy. I don't like to haul along a bunch of equipment when I go camping. Stuff like this works well for me.
