My honey (parents both escaped the Japs from the Philippines) mentioned her daddy cooking this dish for her when she was a girl. I live in a small town, so I had to order the monggo/moong/mung beans from the Zon. Made a batch yesterday substituting baby spinach for the malunggay and ham for the pork belly, but boy was it good! It's in the same flavor category as lentils. The fish sauce added wonderful depth to the flavor.
