I've got a fair bit of lodge cast iron stuff, but all of what I've got is used in our kitchen. I'm looking for some more outdoors style stuff, and came across these guys. I like Lodge stuff a bunch, but must admit that they seem to be catering less to dutch oven type stuff these days. Anyway, I liked the double use of the top on this one, but am not sure about not having the ridges for water condensation. Wondering if anyone had any experience with this pot, or other advice. Thanks in advance.

Actually...Lodge is shit compared to real cast-iron of the days of old like Wagner and Griswold etc. etc.

It is the best new stuff of the day however.

I buy most of my cast-iron in flea markets and junk shops.

Dr. Easter beat me to it, but I was fixin' to say - My grandmother's old Wagner stuff is dang sure good cast iron and older than any of us.

Estate sales are the best way to get good old cast iron utensils.

Nowadays I think it is men in hunting camps that use cast iron the most. Women my age (late 50's) seem to prefer that no stick crap and don't know how to season cast iron and keep it seasoned.

Yea, My ex would put cast iron and my carbon steel knives in the dishwasher. Knives would come out rusty and cast would be all bleached out looking.

I had to hand wash the knives and hide the dang things from her. She liked using them cause they were sharp but would not take the time to hand wash or just wipe them off. Merg

I have the same problem with my wife so I take all my good knives and lock them in my gun room when I head out on the road. some women just don't respect fine cutlery. I also had a problem with my good pans going in the dish washer, but the damn thing broke and I won't let her get a new one so problem solved, for a while. I'm gone for three weeks or more a month and when I'm home she's not allowed in the kitchen. Big Grin

If I told my ex-wife she couldn't have a dishwasher we would have had a divorce the first year instead of the 25th!

We got along good back then so I just tried to hide the carbon steel knives. It worked most of the time. Merg

I bought that oven with a case and a 2 burner griddle for $24.99 @ Costco just after the bi-centenial of Lewis & Clark and thought it was woth every bit of that but not much more. Fit is good, no moisture loss and the lid as griddle is overrated as I have done the same with rounded lids for the past 25+ years. It went into the stack with the other 8 and comes out occasionally.

The pressure about a dish washer is mounting but I think that I can hold out for a while, maybe. Frowner
