Thanks for the replies gentleman. I am hunting near the old Geneva Basin ski area south of Georgetown. I have been up there 4 times in the last several weeks, I have a big billy picked out, however his coat is kind of shaggy & I am doing a full body mount so I may take a smaller goat with a better hide. This Goat hunting is alot of work!

I shot a goat in Colo a few years ago and utilized all the meat. It isn't too bad, but it sure can be tough.

My advise is to take the more tender cuts such as the backstraps, tenderloins, sirloins, top rounds etc and pound them with a tenderizing mallet and then marinate them. I used a 50/50 mix of zesty italian dressing and BBQ suace and then grilled them. Take all the less tender cuts and have them ground into sausage or made into jerky.

Where are you hunting goats? I took mine (a 9" billy) in area G-13 in the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness Area by Buena Vista. It was a very interesting hunt.

I am going Mt. Goat hunting in Colorado next week. Does anybody have an opinion on game preparation, choice cuts or recipes?
