I have both hot and sweet sausage that I had made from last years deer. What are some other ways to cook it other than just heat and eat? I get a little tired of making sausage sandwiches and adding it to spaghetti. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

German Supper

5-6 potatos scrubbed and cut into thumb size pieces
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/3 tsp black pepper
1 1/2 lbs sausage, cut up and browned like you would ground beef
1-7 oz can of sauerkraut

Fry the potatoes and onions for about 25 minutes in a little bit of oil. Add garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Add the browned sausage and stir occasionally while you heat it up. Drain the Kraut and spread over the surface. Don't stir up, just cover and heat.

This is really a good meat and potatos meal. Serve it with some hot rolls, and that's all you need.

Those sausages would make great appetizers.Simple too.
SAUSAGE ROLLS:
Buy some frozen puff pastry.Thaw and roll out on floured surface to about 1/8" thick.Place sausage on edge of pastry and roll up to give a single wrap, trim parallel to sausage, repeat until you have made as many as wanted.Moisten edge with water or beaten egg and press to seal. Chill in fridge for 1/2 hour and slice with moistened knife into 1/2" thick slices.Place evenly on baking sheet, cut side down and cook in 425 f oven till puffed and golden brown.
Easier yet ,just buy some Pillsbury crescent roll dough and wrap up the same way.Bake as usual.
Can be frozen before slicing, wrapped in plastic wrap and thawed as needed.

Try this:

Cut sausage into one inch pieces. Brown in a pan with a little bit of oil. They should cook fairly fast.

When the sausages are almost done, add some sliced sweet peppers, red onion, zuchini squash and mushrooms. I like to cut mine in good sized chunks.

Saute until veggies are almost done. Add a cup of salsa (hot or mild, your choice). Cook just long enough for the salsa to heat through. Maybe 2 or 3 minutes.

Serve over some rotini noodles, or by itself, with lots of parmesan cheese on top. [Smile]
