I was out in the desert a few days ago in the afternoon.

Stopped at the top of a sand dune to fly my drone.

Unknown to me, there were people camping across another dune less than 200 meters away, unseen.

The kids saw the drone, and started jumping up and down and dancing on the dunes, and signaling for me to come closer.

I kept the drone on them, and walked over.

There were 3 families, and were all getting ready to camp for the night.

They had a small BBQ, but had forgotten the gas!

There was a discussion on who should drive back to get some gas.

I asked them if they had any pots.

They did.

Then I suggested one should drive to the main road, about 5 kilometers away, and buy some wood.

Pickup trucks stop at the junction selling wood there.

While that was being done, I suggested that the women should make themselves useful too.

They all laughed.

We dug 3 holes in the and, big enough to house the pots with fire around them.

They had both chicken and meat.

So vegetables were cut, and added to both pots with meat and chicken.

Third pot is for the rice.

I told them to make a fire on the side, big enough to have enough embers to have in all three holes, and some left over.

Put some embers in the holes, pot the pots in, add more embers on top, and leave for a couple of hours.

That is it.

They had all sorts of spices, and I suggested they add whatever they liked.

I left them, as I had to get back to town.

Game them my number.

I got a message in the evening, saying the food was better than a BBQ!

And they are going to tell all their friends about the "Bedouin" recipe. clap

Yesterday one of the men called.

They have a whole bunch of people going to the desert, and asked me to join them if I was out there.

I thanked them and told them I was there before sunrise, and I wished them a great outing.
