With all the Tatar recipes out there the biggest difference I have found is, some are sweet and some are tangy for the most part.
This is what I came up with for myself and most people seem to enjoy.

2 Cups Mayonnaise
1/2 Cup Dill Pickle Relish
1/8 Cup Sugar
1 Medium Onion Pureed
3 TSP Garlic Powder
1 TSP Red Wine Vinegar
1/2 TSP Ground Black Pepper
1/2 TSP Ground White Pepper

Mix all Ingredients well and let stand refrigerated 4 hours. Mix again before serving.

I don't use the sugar, but I also add capers.

Ooh, capers! I always forget about those wonderful little guys.
