I'm looking loads for 12 ga. Federal Champion II hulls. Preferably 1 1/8oz loads. These hulls appear to be different from the Federal Champion hulls and I have found no listings for them in the manuals that I have.

The Federal Champion II hull dates back to about the 1972 - 74 time frame. They were dark maroon with a gold stamped Champion II logo applied. Check to see that the hulls have not become brittle with age. Back in the day when I was reloading them their life I found was no where as good as the AA's and RXP's of the day, they failed at the crimp folds early.

My 1976 Hercules Reloading data lists many loads. I can offer a sampling of the following.

Champ II Hull:
Fed 209 Primer (not the current 209A)
Fed 12S1 wad
16.0g Red Dot
1.125 oz shot
9,600 LUP Pressure
Velocity 1,145 fps

Fed 209 (not 209A) primer
Win AA12 wad
16.0g of Red Dot
1.125 oz shot
10,500 LUP Pressure
Velocity 1,145 fps

Fed 209 (not 209A) primer
Fed 12S1 wad
17.5g Red Dot
1.125 oz shot
10,000 LUP pressure
Velocity 1,200 fps

Fed 209 (not 209A) primer
Win AA12 wad
17.5g Red Dot
1.125 oz shot
10,800 LUP Pressure
Velocity 1,200 fps

There is Green Dot Data listed as well if you need it.

Thanks for the load information. On my other reloads I have always used Win 209 primers so I'm not familiar with Federal. Does Federal currently offer both the 209 and 209A or is the 209 history?
Thanks again fore the data. At least now I know the date range of when these shells were used so I can keep my eyes open for reloading manuals from that time period.

The Federal 209 (not A) was a target type primer of the day. I have not seen them in many years. The pressure on these same loads utilizing the CCI 109, yes 109 it was a mild target primer, runs about 1,000 LUP less. I would expect you could sub in a mild primer like the Rem STS 209, CCI 209 standard, Win 209 or Fio 616 and be fine. Your call though.

Thanks for taking the time to help. I'll try some of these loads.
