I know this is a long shot but; does anyone out there have or know of any unfired ACTIV 20 GA 2 3/4 inch hulls for sale, trade or whatever anywhere?

Have you tried Ballistic Products?

Political correctness offends me.

Ballistic Products doesn't carry Acitv hulls any more. Activ has been out of business for years.

I brought a bunch of the 12 ga 3" Activ's about 10-15 years ago and used them exclusively for my late season duck loads. Got them from Ballistic Products when they were "cheap".

They didn't get cruddy with the weather, and were easy to tell apart from the other loads (I overloaded them because they were only used in below freezing weather- I really didn't want to stick one in during a early season hunt...)

I finally used up the 2000 I had.

If I could find them again, I would buy them. I have heard some folks really didn't care for them, but I never had trouble with them.

I'm out of 3" also only had 3-4 hundred but there history, I still have some factory box's of 3" nickle plated lead #2 and BBB I bought on close out for $1.94 a box of 20.

I still use the 2.3/4 for my dove quail pheasent loads no resizing needed and they fit in all my 12's and 20's.

Back in the early 90's I had a chance to buy bags and bags of new hulls and wads for next to nothing but just let them go because I had cases and cases of new ammo.

Yes, I remember those days. Still have over 10,000 old R-P hulls along with the star 57 primers. Right after steel got mandated, there were all kinds of deals on old lead technology...

I half wonder if I showed up with that stuff and a game warden came by if he would even know that it was capable of killing a duck???? Big Grin

I hear ya I loaded Biz for 3-4 years got it reasonable wish I would have bought more was checked several time and told GW it was Biz they said have a good shoot.

I feel the new (last few years) steel stuff is better then the last of the lead waterfowl loads of 88-89-90 I load some of my steel loads goose but here in SoCal it's damn near impossable to find anyone who carrys steel shot so I have to mail order and with shipping it's not worth it.

I will say I enjoyed waterfowl hunting a lot more when I loaded my own lead or maybe I was just younger and didn't mind pulling the handle on the press.

I'm pretty sure I have a couple of shotgun wad bags full of once fired 20ga activ hulls.

Might even have some 20ga activ wads...

But I'll need to look for them

Thanks for the replies gents. I am interested in new hulls. I have used them for about 20 years. When Kent bought out Active and ceased operations in 1998 I purchased several cases of new hulls and have between 2000 to 3000 new unfireds left. I also have an unknown quantity of fired hulls left. I thought in this wide world someone might have some unfired hulls sitting in a corner somewhere and be aching to get rid of them.

I primarily hunt ruffed grouse in the Applachian Mtns. These are the only hulls I use for this hunting. Through the years I have developed some specialty loads using these hulls that perform superbly in the applications I use them for.

I Use light, short recoil or inertia operated semis for grouse. The Active hulls NEVER need resizing and always run through ANY gun and are cavernous. I have not found any other hull to exhibit all of these qualities simultaneously. Anyway, I'm still interested in buying new hulls. My existing supply should last as I only use them for hunting and use other readily available hulls for claybirds etc. However, If some of you have any W-32 Active wads (they are the yellow 1 1/8 oz. wads) in 20 ga that you want to shed let me know and perhaps we can work out an arrangement.
