Chipped up 4L V8 M5 ... like a proper Muscle Car, but they can turn corners and stop, without changing all the running gear. A bud has an early 90s 3 series BM with a 450bhp V8 in it, that is a nice conversion, BMW should have done it themselves. "When doing battle, seek a quick victory."

Fastest I have ever been in a car, was I was paid to go get and deliver a 71 ZL/ONE Camero that was brand new... I was to pick it up in E St Louis Ill and deliver it to Dalton GA... This thing had a special production 454 in it, roll cage, the spare time was mounted into that, where the back seat was supposed to be.. to fill it, you opened the trunk, which was all gas tank.. That car has spoilers like a Trans AM of that period. Above 80 MPH it was like the hand of God pushed it down on the road.. I was running it at about 80 most of the way back to Georgia. after a long day on the road, to go get it ( had ridden with someone who was escorting a house trailer on the way up) and then head back.. I pulled into Nashville.. got something to eat and it was 11PM... I got out on I 24 , turned the dashlights down and popped in a CCR Tape into the 8 Track.. and put the throttle down a little harder this time.. traffic was light... for those that know the area, you have to go up and over Mont Eagle.. and it is 110 miles to Chattanooga.. I made that run in just under 50 minutes or so.. the next morning went to deliver it in Dalton, we opened it up to see what it would do.. the speedo went to 175 mph.. and it wrapped that.. groves of trees were going by like a picket fence.. that was enough for me.. seen guys with other cars whiz past me when I was doing 110 to 120 mph.. was running a Volvo at 110 coming down on I 90 in Montana once...a 70 GTX with Colorado Plates passed me like I was standing still.. and once in Tennessee, I was driving a 70 New Yorker with a 440 in it.. being a college kid, who drove VWs, I had to see what it would do.. on a long down hill grade on I 75 South of Cleveland TN, I had this thing pegged at 120 Mph.. the speedo limit.. whizzed past this Yellow 69 RoadRunner.. as I went past him, I look in the rear view mirror and he hits his high beams and running lights...I hear him hit it down into 3rd gear and he catches rubber... this car comes flying up on me.. so I pull to the right... it was at night... he comes flying pass me, and his car doing a gentle side to side sway due to the airflow.. he hits that Road Runner Horn as he goes by and shifts back down into 4th... he had open headers on this thing, and the flames were coming the entire length of the car and then some underneath... as his lights disappeared smaller, I just looked at the speedometer on the NYer and let up on the gas... slowing down to 90 mph, every thing seemed pretty tame.. the next morning I am driving my 64 Bug with the tired less than 40 hp motor... of the humiliation of it all..

PULLLEEEEZEE, The only way a stock 78 Camaro could do 140 mph is if you dropped it out of a C-130 at 5000 ft! The fastest I've ever been in a car was my 66 Plymouth Barracuda with the 273 commando motor and 2.76 gears. It wouldn't do anything off the line, but once you wound it up, it would do 165 mph. The down side is it had 8" manual drum brakes. So basically, it wouldn't stop at all. You had to get it at least down to 100 before you touched the brake pedal, or they would just heat and fade, and be gone. NOT the best combo, that one. The quickest (NOT the fastest) car I ever had was a 67 Plymouth Belvedere drag car, stripped and lightened up, roll cage and fuel cell in trunk, with a 440, auto trans and 4.88 gears. With the slicks on it, it would pick the front tires off the ground at launch, and run 11's in the 1/4 mile at 130-135 mph. The one I had the longest, and got in the most trouble with, was my 69 Dodge Coronet, with the 440, auto trans and either 4.10 gears, or 3.55 gears, depending on what I was up to. Nice thing about the Mopar 8 3/4 rear ends, gear changes were pretty simple if you had the 3rd members set up already. With the 3.55's, it would run 150-155 mph all day long on the highway. Only reason to stop (which was often) was for gas. Used to street race that one with the 4.10's, got most of my tickets, and both my "street racing" tickets in that car. Judge told me i he saw me in his court again, he was going to throw me in jail. Si tantum EGO eram dimidium ut bonus ut EGO memor
