Any recommendations for a dependable radar detector?

Money no object or the best for the money?

Probably the best for the money is the Beltronics Pro 500. Amazon - $365

If you just want the most expensive then Escort Max 360 @ $650.

Looking for the best for the money. I've heard that the Valentine V1 is good but normally don't need one. I may want to stretch the legs on this car a bit.
Thanks for the input.

Valentine One

Saved my bacon numerous times whilst slightly exceeding the speed limit while on my BMW R1200RT bike.

The detector works front and back and gives number of hits. Not cheap, but a bunch less expensive than a yellow piece of paper that says "100+ mph in a 65 mph zone".

This. Hands down the best one on the market. Not only detects it, but tells you how many signals and where they're coming from. The money and aggravation the V1 saved me when I had fast cars is priceless.

I have the Valentine and move it between my Tahoe and my ZO6. One thing I wonder about is the false signals I get. I have noticed that I get a "notice" when passing some truckers or the "pre-pass" receiver at the weight stations. Am I imagining this or not?

Nice car if your knees can stand getting in and out of it. We have one, I deliberately don't drive it because it just starts to feel like it's coming into its own at about 100. Not to mention my knees. Roll Eyes

When I was younger (much younger I'm afraid), I'd just put one leg in and sit down in the seat. Now I find it much easier to sit down and swing in. Getting out is easy, you just lean over, put your hands on the ground and fall out!!! jumping

I have found a good radar/laser operator has your speed before or as your detector goes off.

Trusting your money or driving privileges to a detector is false security.

Laser is always tough.....

I use a Rocky Mountain Radar and it has served me very well.

" put your hands on the ground and fall out", that's funny my friend, send me video please!

Valentine V1 is the way to go. I drive over 50,000 miles per year and it has saved me from "roadside highway patrol meetings" numerous times; more than I can count.

If you're feeling EXTRA flush, this is the end-all-be-all of radar and laser protection:

Probably not flush enough for that one. I bought the Valentine V1. Friend of mine at home also swears by them.

The better insurance is investing in the PAL (Police Athletic League) in your area. That sticker on my drivers side window got me out of EVERY bad deed I did on the highway..plus my woman got out of several except for 1...doing 50 in a school zone. The officer would not waive the fine..but he did express his appreciation for investing in police and youth initiatives. I have had my C5 vette to 150+ many times, once at 150 for an entire 25 mile stretch at night, with the top down. Scary..but the feeling is like no other.

The most reliable and the cheapest is a cruse control and a speed limit sign!
