G'Day Fella's, I attended an auction yesterday here in Australia, where a 1964 Ford/Lotus Cortina was up for auction. It was handed in as it did not reach it's reserve price. For more information see; Lot 477 http://www.johncooperauctionee...=150900#.WDn8gVztsS4 Here is the Catalogue; http://images.johncooperauctio...150900/catalogue.pdf There were several other vehicles, including a custom H/D Chopper (Lot 473A) etc, that also didn't reach the reserve. Well, as they say "something is only worth what the market will bear". These machines must be worth more to the current owners than the offers, or they will wait a while and re-auction them went they think their value has increased. Sometimes bigger price is just the natural increase of inflation and doesn't necessarily mean it's value increased. Who knows? I have always been interested in collector cars but I don't own anything I am afraid to take out and use, whether that is a gun or a car or whatever so I will never own a collector piece. I am either cheap or pragmatic, but probably just cheap. LOL Dennis Life member NRA | |||

G'Day Luckyducker, Yes indeed, the market almost always sets the price. The thing with this auction is, this is primarily one individuals life time collection. So there are some uncommon examples present and available, if somebody "needs" them more than the present owner. I'm a bit the same, I have owned and own some nice firearms over the years but they all get used. Some only see the light of day, when the weather is perfect for a walk in the bush/field but they do get used!
