I gave my wife an XK8 convertible for her 40th birthday. It was a nice car, no issues with it. "It's the most beautiful car. I just love it, I wouldn't want anything else........"

Of course that only lasted 2 years until she had to have an SL 550............. Wink

My wife has a SL 550. A very nice car (built like a tank) but I bought a 09 XKR; I actually prefer the XKR by quite a bit. Wanted a DB9 but that is a lot of hunting funds... 2 GT's in one family; probably guess the kids are long gone..

Rich, thanks for the pic of you and the kids in the Jag. All this Jag talk reminds me of the Jan and Dean song, "Dead mans curve" with the XKE and the Corvette. 1964 was the year, although I was a little young to fully appreciate them, I consider the 60's the best years for production cars. Keeping my eye out for a 66 Chevelle, 67 Camaro. Those were the days, thanks again

I took the Jag, top down of course, to Illinois last month. Drove 1231 miles from here to Colin's house in a seventeen hour day. Spent a day and a night there. Drove about 500 miles from Washington, Kansas to Granite City, Illinois the next day.
Went to a Cardinals game on the next day (Saturday). Drove 280-odd miles to Branson, MO, for my Ranger Company reunion. Drove back that Sunday. Got up the next day (Monday), and drove 1200 miles to Rock Springs, WYO, and spent the night. Left there about 9am and hit my driveway that (Tuesday) afternoon.
4100 miles +/-, got better than 25 mpg for the whole trip, including a couple 15 minute sprints over a hundred. Just to make sure I didn't lug it too much. At 80 it is turning just over 2500rpm.

I am still undecided as to what was the most enjoyable part of the trip, driving there, or being there.

No doubt about it, Ford has saved Jaguar
The last few models have been very reliable & refined.
The 2.5 boosted AWD is a lovely reliable surefooted vehicle, 5YO & only ever required routine maint.

as for noise of a busy engine bringing joy to the heart .......a 2yo Porche Carrera S4 Twin Turbo with the full Factory Option Sportspack ( the only one road registered in OZ , all the others are track cars) is right up there with the most heart warming noises a man can hear.
Magnetic dampers, 20% overboost for 10 sec with the sports mode activated. 480KW & 0-100 MPH in 8.3 secs.
Refined driving it ain't, thrills YES SIR.
( closed road targa(s)& track days).

what do you put on your head when you are doing serious driving in the Jag.
