I have a chance to pick up a Remington .54 caliber blackpowder muzzle loader. What do you guys think of it? Has anyone had any problems with it? What kind of accuracy could I expect? Thanks

I think you should buy an SS Huntsman. [Smile]

I have the Remington 54ss muzzle loader and just love it. Only complaint is last year I was having problems with caps going off and decided to switch to either musket caps or 209 primers and found the cost to be one huge joke. I could not find to buy Just a 209 primer set up or just a musket cap set up, You had to buy them both at $45.00. I don't need or want a bunch of fire systems Just one other that the #11 cap model.
I found out the problem I was having was a batch of bad # 11 caps. Hell of a thing to find during the season.
I load 100gr of clear shot then a wad (marble size) of dryer lint and a bore buttered mmp sabot with a 451dia. hp/xtp bullet. I have shot 25 times with this load with very little noticable loading difaculty also very little plastic build up in the bore.

Thanks for the input, guys, I appreciate it - I was just considering one as a new toy to play with. I already have a .50 cal Hawkens from TC and the like - they just look interesting and a departure from the ordinary for sure. Thanks, again
