I have acquired a T/C Hawkens with a 15/16" .45 barrel that was not cared for properly.

If possible I would like to rebore to .50 with twist appropriate for a round ball.

I searched for businesses and smiths that rebore rifle barrels, but all I have found are related to cartridge rifles. I have not contacted any of them yet.

Have any of you done this? Any ideas on who to contact to have this done.

Thanks

Cheaper to fit a new barrel. TC barrels should cost less than a re-bore. Try cleaning and lapping your barrel; it might come back.

You could freshen it out yourself with a lot of elbow grease. You would need a custom mold for a bit bigger bullet but it's VERY doable. It would involve making a cutter, casting it in the bore so it indexed in a groove and cut away, shimming as needed and opening up each groove...then re-inletting a cutter to top the lands one at a time... bunch of work, but rewarding too.

Shoot straight, shoot often.
