I bought my Black Diamond the first year it came out. the only ignition supplied was #7 and musket. After about five shots the fouling from the nipple is starting to bind the striker. Is the current 209 ignition cleaner than using caps, and is there an accuracy difference? Also, with cap ignition, 90 grains 777, and 250 PTX, the striker is blown back to the cocked position. Do 209's remain in the nipple at the shot?

My friend has a encore contender that uses 209 primers. I have used #11 percussion caps for my Knight Predator but after shooting his with 209's I am convinced that 209's are hotter and cleaner. I know that the conversion is kind of pricy but you are getting more positive ignition for your money. Swede44mag

quote:Which? That is Encore or Contender (by Thompson Center Arms)? I'm interested because I'd like to know about any experiences he may have had with a Contender barrel.
