I use the TC ShockWave bullet which is the same as the Hornady SST-ML. It is an awesome bullet. I am 5 for 5 with it on deer using it in front of two 777 pellets of 50 grains each.

It is the flattest shooting sabot/bullet I have shot. It is the only one that I would consider using on a 200 yard shot--with 150 grains of 777.

My only "complaint" is that the bullet always goes all the way through and I have not recovered a bullet to see the expansion, etc. Such a problem is one I can tolerate.

I used Hornady XTPs until this year and they are not even in the same league as this new bullet.

Buy em, you will like them.

Hornady has come out with some kind of new sabot & pointed BP bullet in partnership with Thompson-Center.

Has anyone experience with these bullets?

Do they work as advertised?

all replies appreciated....

I took a REAL chance and ordered 500 of them from the Lock Stock and Barrel bullet sale,
Loaded them up in Nosler sabots and poked them down the barrel in front of 100 grains of FFG.
First shot was about 2 inches to the left of the impact of 210 grain .429 Remingtons that sshoot the best out of this barrel.
A quick twist of the knobs and the next two bullets went through the same hole in the X-ring of the 6-bull target.
I have NO ide what the BC is for this bullet, but it does have MUCH better aerodymanic shape than anything out there.
Come second muzzleloading season and I may well tell you about performance.

Someone at the range was lamenting that this was the same bullet as they bought in a pack of 15 wuith sabots for 8 bucks and change.

Lets see 500 bullets for forty bucks and shipping, plus sabots at $3.77 for fifty . . . yeah if they shoot for a person one could well afford a box of them!

If you got 500 sst's for $40 bucks you got a good deal. The cheapest I have seen them is $7.17 for 20.Around here they are $9.50 to $ 11 bucks a box.
Has that place got a web page to order from?

That price is for the bullet ONLY. Sabots are extra! I use Nosler sabots from Midsouth Shooters Supply but I would assume LockStock & barrel has them also. I know so LITTLE about inlines and sabots, I do NOT even know if the brand of sabot makes any significanct difference. I bought mine a couple of weeks ago so they may be getting low. I waited to get my order in and they sold out of several of the bullets I had planned to order!
Go to the "blemished bullet" section from the opening page!

http://www.lockstock.com

Good luck and if you get 500 I hope they will shoot out of your gun.

I am using 100 grains of FFG.

As short as they are I had hopes they would shoot out of my round ball barrels (some conicals will) but so far the best I can get is a pattern, NOT a group!
I do know one thing about inlines, the the time it takes to do clean-up sure does make me appreciate my traditional guns. [Eek!]

I shot my first muzzleloader deer this past week with a 300 grain SST ahead of two 50 grain 777 pellets. The buck, 8 point about 150 lbs dressed, was sharply quatering towards me at about 30 yards. The bullet entered just inside of the bucks right shoulder and exited the last rib on the bucks left side. It ran about 20 yards after the shot. Couldn't have asked for more. TTS
