Can anyone tell me about the TC New Englander ? I am new to muzzleloading and still learning about the various rifles that are available.

T/C made these for a while now. They have a single trigger. A one inch diameter round barrel. It could have a composite stock or a walnut or even a laminate stock. Made them in LH and RH. Even Stainless. T/C is not making as many stlyes like they used to. I picked up one in a 12 ga. laminate a few months ago. Jim Wisner

I know of a few people that have them and they all shoot good. They have a twist rate of 1 in 48", so they will shoot patched balls or bullets ranging from 370g down[ in .50 cal]. They also came in .54 cal with the same twist. They are a very well made rifle.

I was given one that was shot and never cleaned. I worked like hell to get it somewhat clean. When I was finally able to shoot it I was suprised how accurate a neglected frontloader could be. I shot it one year before trading it

I bought mine for $158 and change from Midsouth and have had it for about 15 years (is that right!?!). I love mine which is a .54. With 60 gr. of GOEX or Pyrodex (by volume) and a patched RB it will easily take a squirrels head off to about 35 yards. With charges of up to 100-110 gr. and the Hornady Great Plains or Buffalo Bullets I've actually outshot some of the in-lines at 50 yards and further. For deer in this area, it is really on the heavy side, but someday I might get to go elk or moose hunting with it... Mine has the original "walnut" stock. I tried the musket caps (with appropriate replacement nipple) but they didn't work as well as the #11s and I'm back to the original set-up.
