I got this new GPR shooting 8 inch groups at 50 yards using 90 grains FFFG,thats with 530 ball and patches 015, and same groups with .010 any advice on load adjustment ?, up or down, just tryin to save some powder. The actual pages with loads in the paper work with the rifle are missing, so I started at 90. Would I have better luck with FFG ?
I'm using Elephant 2f, with a .530RB, and TC prelubed .018 patches, and anything from 90gr to 110gr keeps them under 2". Are you using a solid benchrest? Are you resting the rifle on the sandbags, or holding the rifle in your hands and resting your hands on the sandbags? Are you swabbing between each shot? I am swabbing with cleaning patches I got at Wally World, and I put one in my mouth, wet it down, and then suck the moisture back out. That still leaves it damp enough to swab the bore. Put the rifle on half-cock before you swab the bore.
The first thing I would try, along with the previous suggestions, would be to try a .535 ball with something like an ox yoke pre lubed patch at .015. The 90 grains of 2f or even 3f sounds okay.

I been swabbing every two shots, after that I cant hardly put a ball down it, because of that I wonder if a larger ball would even go down.I been resting the gun on the sand bag, the wood part on the bag. I'll try a reduced load see what happens, maybe 10 lower. and clean between every shot at least one patch.

In the GPR that I used to have(and still miss) I used a .535RB and an Ox-Yoke.015 prelubed patch(but I lubed them as well) and 80 gr of Goex FF. That load was good enough to split cards, cut strings and drive tacks with. derf

I think its the powder amount now, I got the groups down to about 3 inches at 50 yards with 80 grains, and cleaning between every shot. I will get one of those clear view powder measure, so I can get more accurate loads. Maybe try .018 patch when I reorder stuff too.
