TC Omega ignition upgrade to 22 Hornet primed cases?

I swear that I read this on a website and can't remember where. For around $50, the gent would take your breech plug and modify it to accept a primed 22 Hornet case instead of a 209 primer. Claims the 209 primer is too much fire and causes irradic ignition, while the primed 22 Hornet cases were just right.

Anyone hear of this conversion?

Yes, one of my co-workers had this done, $75 is what he paid. If you have drill press, there is no reason why you couldn't do this mod yourself.

The breech plug is just opened the same dia. as a 22 Hornet case. The depth is left the same as it is now and you simply trim your Hornet cases down so there about the same depth as a 209 primer. No special machining required.

My buddy likes his, seems like a lot of extra work to me [Roll Eyes]

Yahoo! !

Now I know how to get around the 209 priming system on my CVA that leaks blow-by like a sieve!

THANX! !

Hey guys,
Mike Bellm has also entertained the idea of utilizing a cut down Hornet case/small rifle primer instead of the 209 primers. [Smile] Don't know if the idea ever got off the ground, but might check and see. His idea was to use the existing breech plug w/o alteration and using a stainless steel Hornet case instead of the cut down brass cases. Gary T.

PR Bullet is the place where this is talked about.
The trimmed .22 Hornet cases would definately be
easier to handle in hunting situations -- but are
their claims to more accuracy true? Has anyone else tried this conversion?

I'm attempting 2" groups at 150 yards, but can't
seem to get any better than 3" groups at that range.

If the claims of PR Bullet are true, one should be
able to get even less than 2", if they can attain
3" groups with a custom Encore barrel.

Anyone out there tried this conversion, and gotten
much better groups?
