I have FINALLY found a load that my 10.75 X 65R Collath double rifle likes. The reciepe is 78.5 grain FFg Swiss Blackpowder and a 300 grain two groove, lubed gas-checked Leadhead bullet. I'm getting 1514 FPS mean spread on both barrels. If I use magnum primers I get a 7 FPS increase in velocity. I won't be using the magnum primers as you can see they don't offer much increase in velocity. After chronographing today my friend (soon to be a long range silhouette shooter) recommended I clean my barrels with Windex with Vinegar. He said alot of the silhouette shooters at Oklahoma City, OK were using it when he visited the range about a month ago. I must confess I've tried about every product on the market to clean barrels but not this. I use HOT soapy water in my Lyman .54 caliber flintlock by the way. Anyway, the question I have is, "After cleaning with the Windex with Vinegar and swabbing clean, is there anything other than using Tetra Gun Oil to protect my barrels from damage?" Thanks, Mike | ||
