im pretty sure cimmeron is made by pedersolli.. its a one step up from pedersoli and has a warrantyh, maybee about 2 years as with my 45 colt i bought.. they had a serious problem with all these pistols at that time and wanted to play dumb... could have probably ahd it replaced.. but i stuck with it and its a servicable .45 colt replica.. its cylinder/ barrel alignment is seriously off.. pedersoli is a good looking introductory gun to the sport of black powder cartrige shooting.. with 45 70 it is ideal to shoot cast, jacketed, smokelss powder or black.. make sure you clean black pwder out of barrel and oil it just after shooting to keep from ruining barrel. i have 2 pedersoli bp shotguns and one cimmeron pistol and they are a love hate relationship. if you get a good one and in my opinon this is with some luck.. but you could get a good one, if your going to shoot it 20 rounds a month or less it would be great..if your going to shoot it 100 rounds a week id get a better gun .. pedersoli has a lacking service department, and after the warranty is up they will probably snub you as they did me, but that was quite a few years ago. i couldnt even get parts.. the problem that they can have is a rough barrel as was just on another site. i think it was shilo bp page.. the gun had to be thoroughly cleaned after 15-20 rounds and was a job getting the lead out . good quality guns with good barrels in the 2400 dollar and up range wont give you this problem.. talk to shilo and or c sharps before you buy a pedersoli.. of course if its kept in the closit for the rest of your life or sold in 6 months it wont matter what you buy.. mine shot 2 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards for about 2 years and one day searching for loads i found that majic load that i dont talk about much becouse everyone thinks im a liar.. im shooting a c sharps upgrade stocked 45-70 with badger lapped target barrel.. they will cost in the range i mentioned above.and thats without sights. they come with lawrence sights and they are good for hunting and other sights can be purchased later on... sights is another problem with cheap stuff.. good sighs are in the 400 dollar range.. . for much more info and great old post reading go to http://www.shilohrifle.com/forums/index.php?sid=7fc16975e22175055f660ca125795f3b

i dont think getting a pedersoli or cimeron is a bad idea,, if you dont like it your not in terrible sorts.. and you could get a good one. cimmeron always shipped me parts pretty quick and they are a good buffer between the problems of the cheaper hit and run deals pedersoli runs.. if you get the bug you can always go for the gold later on.. maybe a cheaper pedersoli and add inexpensive pedersoli sights would be a good starting point..then get a good one if your starstruck.. its a tough decision.. one thing for sure your married the right girl.. goodluck dave..

Well Dave for 38 years I've been telling my wife that she married the right man You're right and thanks a lot for the comment about her.

You're perfectly welcome to share that load with me and I can assure you that no laughter will come from me at all.

Thanks for sharing your point of view on this matter and I'm thinking that I will probably put the project on hold until I can go with C Sharps of another American made rifle.

Sanman,
The Pedersoli Sharps from Cimmaron or whomever are very accurate rifles, totally capable of taking you to the nationals if you are good enough. The sights are an issue. Pedersoli sights have improved recently, so these might be quite fine but I cannot say for certain.

I believe the Cimmaron revolvers are made by Uberti - which is quite another kettle of fish in my book.

There is a very good Browning .45-90 bpcr for sale on the MSN boards - these tend to be excruiatingly accurate rifles for some reason, but lack the cache' of a Sharps. I think the Browning is a bit over $1500.

For $300 - $400 more you can get a Shiloh and you'll never look back. The company will stand behind it forever and your great-grandkids will be proud of it.

I bought a C.Sharps in 50-90 a few years ago. It is the best rifle I have ever owned. Shoots 550gn slugs into one hole at 100yards, can knock over steel at 300 all day. I even took this rifle to Africa. Money well spent. I bought it as a working gun, so no fancy engraving, yet it is as pleasing to the eye as you could find anywhere. Good luck with any route that you take.
