I wonder if a barrel-lenght of 32" is enough for the caliber 45-110 or if you need 34" to get all out of it. How many grains of blackpowder in that case with a 535 grains bullets. I have read that 45-100 have space for 90 grains with that bullet and I need information about both 45-100 and 45-110. I have bought 2 reamers, one for the caliber 45-100 WCF 2.6" and one for the caliber 45-110 Sharps 2.7/8 and plan to rechamber my Pedersoli-sharps in caliber 45-70 to one of those. My rifle have a barrel lenght of 32". Wich one of the two shall I choose?

Choose the .45-100. Ernie Stallman of Badger Barrels claims that 32" barrels for a .45 with 525-550 gr bullets will be lucky to burn 85-95 gr of powder. That said, a .45-110 will go a bit faster with 100-105 grs of powder, but not a heck of a lot faster. Plus, you will get more fouling, esp in the last couple of inches. A 34 inch barrel will be just that much worse for muzzle fouling. I'd go with the .45-100 for grease groove or groove diameter bullets. I prefer the .45-90 for bore diameter bullets. Brent
