Is there much that can economically, easily, and effectively be done with a loose arbor in a Second Generation Colt 36 Navy? All advice or links welcome. The arbor on mine is loose. I don't know of any competent gunsmith in Europe, let alone England, that has any knowledge of such things BTW!

Perhaps try some Red Locktite if it will unscrew. If it's already pinned, try driving the pin in a bit further; most likely a tapered pin. If it has no pin, you could drill and ream for a small tapered pin. You could also drill and tap a set screw into the frame to bear upon the arbor perhaps. Be sure everything is lined up correctly before attempting to drill and tap. Good luck whatever you try! Joe

Depending on the maker many have the arbor pressed in and blind hole pinned. Check the CAS City Forum. They have an especially competent bunch of colt shooters there and I have seen the loose arbor problem discussed. "Make yourselves sheep and the wolves will eat you" G. ned ludd

Thank you. That is very kind to pass on the advice. Do you have a web address for the CAS Forum? The gun is too good to "junk" and I can't believe that 21 grains of Triple 7 FFFG behind a standard 375 ball has loosened the arbor pin. Or could it?
