Anyone have experience with one of these? Except for the cost ($1400) it seems like a very interesting rifle and they have won lots of matches. The only thing I don't like is the single, non set, trigger on a target rifle but I guess Pedersoli must stay true to history with an accurate replica. Anyone shooting one? How is the trigger? Any comments appreciated.

I don't have one but I made a rifle to get as close as I could. Mine is a TC Renegade with a Green Mountain 1-18 twist .458
This rifle will shoot BIG bullets. So far I like the Lyman "whitworth" bullet and a Lee 459-405-HB. Both bullets shoot sub 2" groups at 100 yards. Ron

Jon: I have handled but not shot the Gibbs. You are right about the price, but the Gibbs has virtually taken over the long range muzzleloading matches at Bisley and at Oak Ridge, TN, where they shoot at 1,000 yards with irons. Pedersoli makes a hell of a barrel. Google LRML and you will find a wealth of info. check out JCunard.com if you are thinking of buying one, as you will need a platinum-lined nipple. I'm about to start fiddling with one of the Whitworth repros again after a long layoff -- crude compared to the Gibbs, but still capable of long-range accuracy.

Bill/Ron...thank you for the comments. Well, I ordered one! "Flintlocks etc." was the best price ($1420) I could find. I bought a 10ga Pedersoli s/s ML shotgun from them a few years ago and was happy with their service. I also ordered a lube groove bullet mold ($90.00!) but will eventually make a mold for paper patch bullets.

Ron...I also have a TC Renegade and thought of getting a 458X18 barrel but could not find one. Does Green Mtn. sell such a barrel for the TC?

They made a very limited production of them. They are a great long bullet barrel. Ron
