Gentlemen, I have a friend who has asked me to try to find out where he can buy a single shot, black powder pistol called a Hawes 'Kentuckian'. He put one together many years ago from a kit and would like to have another. The pistol has a 10 in barrel, is a 'cap and ball' style (not a revolver) , and on the barrel says 'Hawes', 'black powder only', 'Kentuckian Cal .44', 'made in italy' and has four of what appear to be proof marks, AC in a circle, AB in a square, PM? under a wreath, and a shield under a wreath. All of the metal trappings other than the barrel and lock are brass. Would appreciate any info about where he might be able to get another of these, or whether this might be an impossible search.
