Dribble as much oil in through the nipple as possible. Drip some in, let it "absorb", dribble a little more, etc, till it won't take any more. Remove the nipple if possible, to make it easier, but even if not possible, just work it in through the little hole. Let it sit a day or two, then either use the compressed gas "puller/ejector" method, or the old fashioned screw on the end of the ramrod, and yank the ball. Give it a good cleaning, and make sure the bore is dry & free of any oil before reloading.

You can also soak the barrel in a bucket of hot water, breech end. Then pull....

Cpt P. Varmint Hunr=ter has the best suggestions, followed by the bucket of water method. FFFFG or other granulation ground up will be best in the nipple hole. It really does NOT take much to prime charge (IF it is present) and get it to fire or to remove ball if the shooter forgot the maximum "First the powder then the ball". The CO2 method is the ONLY method approved by the NMLRA! LouisB

quote:I use the CO2 tool, and it helps if you put a sock over the muzzle to catch the ball.
