Bought this from a friend who took it in with several guns from a guy. Only paid 25 bucks for it. it looked like a fun project to try to reserect. Some one started it evidently as a project and never finished it. Barrel is a 32 cal CVA "squirrel rifle barrel that some one turned down the end to fit the Receiver and tapped the end 3/8 x24 thread. Receiver is a old Savage Favorite that was stripped. Only the hammer and new coil spring setup added and trigger remained with the receiver plus the set screw on the bottom. A friend and I drilled and tapped 3 bolts to fit the breech of the barrel to make breech plugs. The best nipple for the job was a size 12x28 nipple that was used for the Senca guns and the Ruger Old Army revolvers. This nipple does take a size 11 cap. Then filed down a nut to fill the gap between the barrel and the head of the bolt. Bolt head was left on to make easy removal of the breech plug. We made 3 so I would have a couple of extras since this is not a factory set up. Barrel has some slight pitting that I can live with as some one must have not cleaned the barrel too well after shooting and the pitting follows what looks like tool marks in the barrel. The barrel is about 95% shiney so I am thinking that slight pitting should not matter. Got to find sights for this project yet and make a forearm. Stock came with the gun and is a old Winchester stock from the looks of things. This may not fit any nitches but I think it is kinda cool and ought to be fun to shoot. IF ya look at the hammer that also was changed when I got it. Who ever did the origional work put a shroud over the hammer to catch any cap metal from flying out. Thinking the right load of 3f and the right ball and patch combo should make this a fun little gun to shoot. Smiler

Sure wish I had it!

Am looking for a single shot centerfire action for a project. Don't matter what long as it's cheap.

Check the Pawn shops and the gun shops you never know what you may find. I bought a Remington Rolling block rifle for 200 bucks a shot out 7x57 military but the action was solid and had it rebarreled to 45/70 with a Green Mountain Barrel. Action is the desired Smokeless powder version the model 5. I did the stock work. Actually he wanted more for the gun and the local gun shop would only give me 200 bucks for a Ruger Blackhawk 44 mag and he took it on trade even up. I have about 600 bucks in this project not a bad price considering that the repo's cost more. Pic of my Roller:
