Are these just a gimmick to sell primers,or are they like the 209M primers used in shotgun shell reloading for the big magnums?Rather than the standard 209 primer. van

Check out Randy Wakeman's site, he has thoroughly investigated this subject. There is lots of good information there on this subject. It is my understanding that regular 209s are too hot and the muzzleloading 209 primers are weaker. The 777 primers have a special priming formulation to help reduce the "777 crud ring".

The specialized primers do in fact cut down on the carbon ring commonly found in the inline muzzleloaders,wich cause difficulty fully seating bullets and innaccuracy..jim
