What is the best lubricant to use in cold weather ? Was planning on using Bore Butter, but I heard it is a real problem in cold weather.

For what? Patches, bullets, lock mechanisms?

I use bore buttered patches in winter no problems. I get mine prelubed - but it's the same stuff. No big deal.

On bullets, I would prefer SPG, but I don't think bore butter would be significantly different.

I would NEVER put the stuff on a lock mechanism. Use Automatic Transmission Oil, or any good gun oil such as BreakFree, Rem Oil, whatever. Any decent gun oil will work fine up to -25 F in my personal experience.

I use liquid Wonderlube bore solvent, made by Tradititions, on the patch and a bore button under that to keep it out of the powder. I have used this in -30 with no problem.
