I always had a desire to own my own cannon; weel things are a bit closer because my local steel merchant. "Got a bit of scrap 3" shaft that may do, it's a bit rusty but it's marked 4140 so I suppose it's good steel".

"Wahoo, I'll take it!"

I have a piece of thick walled tubing that it will slide into and I am making my own drawings from photo's.

The laws in Australia have taken away our semi-auto's but a cannon with a barrel up to 4 ft long and a max of 2" bore is classed the same as an air rifle flame

Good steel it is and is the Cr-Mo gun steel so many barrels and receivers are made from.
Any idea what the heat treatment is ? That would make a difference.
Have a long gun drill ?

The same tribe of imbiciles that now want to pass a law this week that you can only buy ammunition for rifles and pistol calibres that are stated on your license. Shhh; nobody has told them that most of us old blokes have reloading gear and projectiles a plenty!

Nice job, but artillery wheels should have only 14 spokes. I know, being a critic is the easiest job in the world.

I know why it the same as a air gun.
There's a lot of air in the barrel of a 2" gun.

Bad Ass: Are you planning to build a Mountain Howitzer like the one in the photo? If so, excellent choice! I have a 1/3 scale howitzer barrel bored to fire golf balls. Can't wait to build the carriage.

What? One shot and a putt for the first nine, then repeat for the back nine. Big Grin

Not really working to any plans just photos of the WWW

Making the first pattern wooden barrel

That the finished shape compared to a P14 Enfield.

I don't like the proportions so pattern no. 2 is being worked on.

In Germany, as target shooters, we can only buy the ammunition for which we have an entry in the permit. And we need a permit for handloading ammo. Some authorities write as well as pure, that we are only allowed to reload the ammunition, for which we have only the permit. But this is a legal gray zone. And we have a contingent of 10kg propelant, in some exceptions 20kg, for 5 years. And we are only allowed to store max. 3kg propelants in our house or flat.
And "yes", in Germany, handloader are dangerous people. Frowner But this applies to all legal gunowners here. Roll Eyes
