Is FFg or FFFg better to use in 50 cal. percussion shooting patch/ball.

It depends. I'd try both and see what the rifle likes. Generally the rule of thumb is over 45 caliber use 2f, under 45 use 3f. I have used 3f in a couple of 54's and got good results but 3f's pressure curve is a bit higher than 2f so I reduce the maximum loads by 10%.

For maximum loads use the 2f. For targer loads 70gr. or less of black powder 3f will work. My T/C Hawken owners manual said to use only 2f only. What does your ownenrs manual say? The target loads in 3f will be a little cleaner then the 2f.
