What is the best .50 cal projectile for elk where you can't use sabots?

Anyone use the Lee REAL (rifling engraved at loading) bullets?

The REAL bullets work just fine. I have the Lee mold and use them in my Kodiak side by side percussion double rifle.

You will like their performance on elk.

I know nothing about casting. What kind of lead alloy do you use?

I use 30 -1 lead to tin. I have a stainless steel pot that holds about 80 pounds. I typically put in 60 pounds of sheet lead and two pounds of tin.

Do a search for Track of the Wolf. This company is a major supplier in the muzzleloading market, and you should be able to buy these bullets already cast from them.
