I wonder if there is anyone who have had some problem with their Sharps rifles from Armysport or Pedersoli? Do you get more velocity out of your gun if you have an 45-100, 45-110 instead of a 45-90?

OPPS,Should have bought American. I did and wasn't disappointed. In theory the 100 and the 120 should go faster than the 90 with it's rainbow trajectory. derf

I have pedersoli Sharps in 45/70 & 40/65 and custom 45/120 & 50/140. 68gn FFG load with 45/70 and 530gn Lyman is 1140fps; 115gn FFG in the 45/120 boosts to only 1360fps (i.e 220fps) for an extra 47gn powder. Using a precision vernier long range sight on the 45/70 I can set up to hit a steel plate within a couple of shots out to 900 yards. It would seem therefore that there is little to be gained from burning all that extra powder. Mind the big 45 & 50 sure attract attention from all that additional smoke & shear grunt

Karl-Erik, You will get more velocity with the bigger cases, but not a heck of a lot more. The 90 is just about my favorite, but I am shooting a 100 now. I see no reason for a 110 - just too much recoil for me thanks. Also, too much fouling and the 110 really needs a 34" barrel to take much advantage of the cartridge. The 120 (3.25" case) is neither historically correct, nor ballistically much different than the others. Plus the brass will kill ya! (very expensive and mostly poor quality, though Norma basic is probably pretty good if you can afford it). Let no one kid ya, the Pedersoli is a very fine rifle. I've been beaten by a Pedersoli too many times to say otherwise. I shoot a Shiloh, which is darn fine too, probably the cream of the crop, but frankly, the Pedersoli is 1/2 the money or even less and it will shoot just as well. Leave the Armsport on the shelf.
