http://www.lx.net/wadeingrham/rifles.htm Does anyone know anything about this guy? Looks like he has a well thought out action for underhammers. I like the fact that there's a seperate spring rather than using the trigger guard.

I wish I could get the url to open for me. It won't at the moment.

There is a book on underhammers (rifles and pistols) that contains many diagrams of actions. There are dozens of ways to skin this particular cat and all work pretty well. A Billinghurst or Hilliard action are particulary nice in my book and neither use the trigger guard. I can't recall the name of the book but I've got a copy at home.

Nice rifles indeed. They are little blocky in the amount of wood on them, though the picture doesn't show them well, but darn nice for sure. What does he gets for them I wonder?

I agree to the "blockiness" the darn old guy doesn't seem to reply to e-mails though. I've sent a couple inquiring about the price of action and parts, sadly no response yet. I'm hoping it's just computor problems that keep him from replying. I found one action for sale in Canada, but the price is 500 clams, a little rich for me right now.

That is a lot for such a simple action. I have often thought of making one myself. I have no tools more sophistocated than a drill press and files, but I think it's very doable.

I have a Blue Grouse underhammer action that is pretty decent. I made a nice deer rifle out of it.

Both Log Cabin Shop and Muzzleloader Builders Supply carry a very nice underhammer parts kit that will accommodate a barrel up to about 1.3 inches in diameter. The kit goes for $60-$75 or so depending on whom you buy it from.

Bill, I appreciate the info. Unfortunately I went to the sites and I couldn't find the under hammer parts. Could you point me in the right direction?

thanks
